Dungeons & Dragons

Explained

What

Kids will be creating their very own hero out of staff-provided block figures to go on fun, imagination-fueled adventures! The D&D guide (a staff member) will narrate the setting as well as regulate the gameplay and rules. Meanwhile, the players will decide what they want their characters to do and work together to craft a story of their own!

How

The core of D&D is based on dice rolls! Kids will be playing with a variety of staff-provided dice such as standard 6-sided and even 20-sided dice. Whether the players decide to fight a dragon, race a rabbit, or convince an ogre to let them hitch a ride on its back - the outcome will be decided by a roll of the dice!

& Why

As players journey and accept quests, they will face obstacles that will challenge the kids to practice problem solving and thinking outside the box. Playing in a group will also encourage teamwork as kids cooperate to figure out what their next steps should be to advance their hero's journey. Furthermore, the dice-rolling mechanic of the game will provide an opportunity for mad-math skills to flourish as kids calculate damage in combat or manage their imaginary gold when buying supplies for the group!

About Me

In the 3+ years I've spent working in child care, my favorite thing to do was storytelling. Whether it was reading the kids a book, sharing a story of my life, or just making something up on the fly - nothing could beat the joy and engagement they gave when hearing me make funny voices or building up a suspenseful narrative.

About OWT

Other World Thinkers was born out of my love for both LEGO and story-telling. As a substitute teacher and a qualified mandated reporter, I am here to ensure your children find their creative voice and have fun playing make-believe like never before!
